Dr Edwin Seet is a Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore. His current appointment includes Clinical Director, Office of Clinical Governance. Previous appointments were Head of the Department of Anaesthesia and Chairman of the Operating Theatre Committee. Academic appointments include Adjunct Associate Professor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore), and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang Technological University).

Dr Seet completed a clinical fellowship in Ambulatory Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine with the University Health Network (Toronto, Canada) under an inaugural Ministry of Health scholarship. He has research interests and publications in obstructive sleep apnoea, airway management, pain adjuvants, preoperative evaluation and geriatric anaesthesia; with more than 60 peer reviewed publications in high impact factor journals such as JAMA, Anesthesiology and the British Journal of Anaesthesia.

Strategies in Managing the Difficult Airway

This lecture explores the common pitfalls in difficult airway management. Evidence-based strategies are highlighted, including a novel 5As acronym coined by the speaker: 1. Anticipate & Act, 2. Awake Techniques, 3. Adequate Oxygenations, 4. Airway Algorithms, and 5. Alternatives and Adjuncts.
