Renal Emergencies in ED
Renal disease is notoriously silent, with acute kidney injury (AKI) presenting as a common entity in the Emergency Department. Emergency Physicians play a critical role in recognizing early AKI, preventing iatrogenic injury, and reversing its course. The distinction between community and hospital-acquired AKI is important for the differential diagnoses, treatment, and eventual outcome of patients with AKI.
This talk will give a brief overview of AKI and dialysis-dependent emergencies.
